I finished my revisions of Falling last night! I changed a few things here and there... I think I made it better, but we shall see. I will be e-mailing it to my editor tonight after one last read through. I am so nervous! This will be the first time anyone has read my book from start to finish. My stomach is flopping around just thinking about it! What if people hate it? What if no one even wants to read it? What if my editor gives it back to me and says, "you need serious help, this book sucks!" I doubt Jill will say that but its still in the back of my mind. I am worried that it will be a failure :( I don't care if a make a penny off the book as long as people enjoy reading it and want more from me. Falling will leaving you saying WTF and begging for the second book to get answers. Hope this will make people bond with my characters and wander about their outcomes. I have picked several beta readers but could still use a few more. If anyone is interested please e-mail me at [email protected]!

Falling

I am rewriting the ending of Falling. The editor wants my book by the weekend so she can start on it. I am trying extremely hard to get everything done before Friday gets here. I did however decide on an e-book cover! Hope yall like it because I do! Thank you Jessica Gill (elance graphic designer - contact @ https://www.elance.com/s/jgill5/) She is an amazing artist and is very, very easy to work with! I highly recommend her!

I'm redeveloping Harlan and Rosalee's relationship. I felt like their love story was too easy. My characters have more depth than to be so easy to read and clueless/reckless. I want to make sure my readers can relate to my characters. I want my readers to cry with Rosalee and be mad at Harlan when he acts stupid. I want my readers to be excited when Rosalee finally accepts Harlan for being a vampire. I want my readers to be scared with Harlan when he tries to tell her the truth.

I guess at some point I am going to need to stop writing and just go with what I've created. I'll never finish is I keep changing things. Although, I do think these recent changes make the story ten times better than before. After this re-write I am giving it over to Jill to start to copy-editing. She is the expert so I know everything will be taken care of and she will help guide me in the right direction with my first book.

I am once again in love with my book. Thank goodness! It was torture hating my book over the past few days. I was nearly ready to scrap the entire thing and start over. I've read about four books over the weekend and it has helped me redirect my book to where it needs to go.

After seeing Charlaine Harris this Saturday at her book signing in Austin, Texas - I have a new found excitement to finish my book. In case you have never met her or know who she is, shes the author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels aka the HBO show True Blood is based off of. Anyways, she is the nicest lady ever! As Elizabeth would say, "Shes like a slice of home!" The last question she answered was about advice for up-in-coming authors!!! She said what I have always heard but she put it even better! She said to read everything you can get your hands on. The good and the bad and be able to tell the difference. Read and break down the books you like and understand why they are so amazing. Know what makes a good book good and a bad book bad. Then when you have an idea to lock yourself away and write. Total inspiration! Love love love her!!!!!

I am about 1/4th of the way through re-editing my book for like the fifth time! This time I have more passion and have added a lot of new things. The Editor, Jill, will be able to start assisting me starting next week! I have so much to do over the next month and a half! I really am hoping to have this book ready for Amazon - Barnes & Nobles - Smashwords - LuLu - and other online bookstores by the end of the month. As soon as I get the first 15% of the book edited I will be posting it on my website, facebook, and on goodreads so don't forget to check it out!

Also, I want to come up with a contest that will allow the winner to have their name featured in my murder-mystery book coming out this Fall/Winter. I have the basic outline for the novel and the cast names but I will be needing a reporter for the book... perfect place for a fan's name to go. I will be thinking about ways to create a contest and have it posted asap. Then I would like to do another contest were the winners will be able to get an advanced copy of Falling. Stay toned!

I am having a love-hate relationship with my book right now. I can't decide if I should take time away from it so that I can gain some prospective or is I should go through and do more edits? The editor is going to be starting her review next week and part of me thinks I should wait for her input. Honestly, I think I've been to into writing the book and have forgotten why I am writing it. Does that make sense? I am worried I am telling Rosalee & Harlan's stories rather than showing my reader their story. I am torn! I am doing my best to resist the urge to open my book and fix things. Maybe getting my editor's point of view will help me get some piece of mind. I feel like I am going crazy thinking about it!

I vow to not touch my book again until Sunday. I think two days will be plenty of time for me to read a few books and get a better idea of what I might be doing wrong with my book. I've been told that to be a good writer, you need to read twice as much as you write. Makes sense to me!

Ohhh. . . btw, today I am going with my friend Dee to get my nose pierced! I am super excited! I had it back in college but took it out for a really stupid reason, stupid boy actually. This time I am getting it and keeping it because it's what I want :) Plus, I now have the most amazing husband who supports me in everything I do. His words exactly when I told him about it, "Whatever makes you happy, Baby!" Man. . . I love that boy!

Girls - he does have a brother, but he is gay :( Sorry, I got the only good (straight) one in the bunch!  It's okay to be jealous. . . I would be if I were you - jk - I really am very blessed to have such an amazing man in my life. I certainly don't know what I did to get someone as great as he is. Whatever it was, I'm extremely thankful for it. I love you Casey!

I am in the process of dividing up the chapters in Falling. It wouldn't be so bad if I would stop rewriting while I am doing it. The more I read it the more I see things I need to fix. I'm sure every artist of any kind is never completely satisfied with their creation... but serious, I have to stop at some point. This can't be healthy :)

I did however decided to change the ending. . . I want to make a sequel that will give you answers to why Rosalee fell through time to begin with. I had to add some foreshadowing so that I can tie in the theme for the next book. Hope you will understand where the book is going but not be able to see it coming. If that makes sense?

As soon as I get  the first few chapters back from the editor I will post them on here. I would love to get some feedback! So keep an eye out on my Facebook page or my GoodReads page for updates. I am tempted to put up some of it now, but I want it to be perfect first. Sorry. . . I know waiting stinks. Trust me, I know, because I am waiting along with you all.

I just want to thank  everyone ahead of time for all of their support! I really can't wait for you to read the book and let me know what you think!

I have finished writing my first novel, Falling.

My editor will be starting the editing process in two weeks and we hope to have the first revision two weeks later. I am hoping to have the second revision completed by the end of this month!

By the middle of June I should have the book properly formatted for e-book uploading and have the book cover competed. My goal is to have the book available of Amazon and Smashwords by the end of June. The first two weeks the book will be free, then after that it will be 99 cents!!!
Please tell your friends and family about it! Leave reviews and let me know what you think!

I just finished up the 'biting' part and am now onto the climax of the story line. It is so close to being finished that I am starting to get nervous! I talked with a copyeditor yesterday who is writing up a proposal offer for me. She is based out of New York and has a million books she has edited for other authors. I am so excited to work with her! (Thanks Jill)

I had sent her a sample copy of the book so she could estimate the amount of time and work it needed and said she was surprised by how amazing my writing it. She couldn't believe this was my first book that I wrote in a months time with zero previous experience. It felt so good for a professional to actually say those things. Not that I don't trust my friends and family, but ya'll are kind of obligated to sugarcoat some. Jill said that typically when she is working with an author they will go through about 7 revisions along the way. When I asked her how many she thought mine would take before it could be published... she said 2 or 3 TOPS! How amazing is that! She said it all depends on how much editing I want done and how much structure needs to be corrected. Jill said from the 20 or so pages that I emailed her, that overall I was on a good start as far as character development and structure. She said that you really could get a sense of my characters right off the bat and she sounded excited to work with me on it!

Yesterday I drove down to Austin to hang out with Elizabeth and her boyfriend, Cody. She has a few artist friends that she is going to get in contact with for my book cover. When I told her my cover idea, she totally freaked saying that was exactly how she had pictured it too! You have no idea how excited I am about this book coming out and I can't wait for everyone to read it!!!!!

I have 80% of the book written and edited thus far. Tomorrow I am going to finishing writing the rest of the book and edit the rough draft.

As soon as I am done with my initial edits then I get to send it to a professional to review. My copyeditor will be able to help structure my chapters and smooth out any rough spots with character development and grammar.

I am looking forward to starting my book cover! I have so many ideas rushing in my head of how I want it to look. But you are going to have to wait and see once it's all done. No giveaways just yet!

Once I get the book self-published then I will be sending out copies to local publishing companies trying to snag a book deal. I already have plans for a spin off for Rosalee's bestfriend Zoey. Also, I have a murder/mystery book planned to write. Not sure which one I want to write first. We shall see!
