Eli and Clara's story continues as she tries to finish high school. Eli is as over protective as ever and Tate and his group of friends are no help. They wait for the Horde, always looking over their shoulder. But the ever annoying but strangely prophetic bird begins to become more of a chatter box and Eli learns something that could change some things. Not just for him and Clara, but Devourers everywhere.

Then an unexpectedness guest comes forcing Eli to flee with Clara, leaving her temporary family behind. She is thrown into his world of underground 'traitors' and learns much of his past. They meet many new people and creatures along the way to freedom. But when tragedy strikes the two, will Clara see the monster in Eli? Can she handle his strange world and awful past? Will one of them lose their life forever...

4 little bookworms

my review

I have been meaning to read some of Shelly Crane's books for a while but have so many to pick from they kind of got lost in the to-read stack. I was referred by a friend (Mandy IREAD INDIE @ http://twimom101bookblog.blogspot.com/) to read her next so I did. I read both of these books over the weekend - they were easy reads and never got slow or boring. I read them both cover-to-cover in just a few hours. This review is going to be about both books by the way.

You will fall in love with Eli & Clara! At first I was a tad annoyed with Clara but finally she grew some balls and took up for herself. After that I really enjoyed her character and fell in love with their love story. They take you on an adventure and keep you begging for more! To be honest, I didn't know what this book was about (the paranormal aspect that is) and I was presently surprised. This was the first book of this type that I have read and it was an interesting take on the supernatural. In the first book I was basically pleading with Eli to tell me what he was. Oh how I love me some Eli : ) So after that little secret was exposed it was nice to see a different version of the paranormal and I enjoyed the newness of it all.

I also liked that the love triangle was short lived. I hate how some books draw it out (ie: Twilight) and prefer if you are going to keep you guessing then be more like (ie: Hunger Games) where it isn't ever defined until the end. This book got straight to the point and I like that. It gave you a good background story with Clara and then once the choice was made it never drifted backwards. I don't like weak female leads and so I was extremely happy when Clara put her big girl panties on and took charge! All I can say is that you will love to love Eli <3 He was a totally good guy wrapped up in a bad boy package! Yummo! Delicious! Did I tell you how much I liked Eli yet?

Overall I gave both of these books 4 outta 5 little bookworms and would recommend you read this for a change of pace. It's the typical teenage love story with a supernatural vibe that leaves you satisfied. There are several twists and turns along the way and you keep getting surprised by what happens next. I think you will enjoy this if you like other indie authors like Samantha Young and Amy Bartol. These two books even have some bonus chapters from other authors that will turn you on to them if you haven't already read them yet. So... go check it out! Both books were only like $2.99 so you can't beat that for a good love story with a happy ending : )
